Northeast (Part 2). Gangtok,Aritar, Memencho.

So once we were done with Darjeeling we headed to Sikkim. Around 7 in the evening we reached Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. Gangtok is a busy but a clean town. We checked into a hotel pretty quickly and got some rest. The following morning we visited a tourist/bike rental company and they agreed to take us to a few places in East Sikkim, to which we were pretty excited. We started at 2 in the afternoon and the next stop was Aritar, a small region in East Sikkim. It was already dark when we got there so we didn’t get to see much, but the coming morning we decided to get a good view of the sunrise and visit a few other places around the region. We stayed the night a place called Aritar retreat and got some good night’s rest. It was dawn, we had to hike up to get to the viewpoint to watch the sunrise, it was really tiring! We finally reached the point after 20 mins of hiking, had a huge sigh of relief! The view was pretty good, but it was the view of The Kanchenjunga again! After a quick tour around the point, we headed to a lake and then a monastery which was beautiful as well! We left Aritar around noon and headed to a place called Memencho. The car made a stop at a few other viewpoints before reaching the place. The best view was from this place called Zuluk which is at a height of 10,000 feet, got a beautiful view of the terrain as well as the hills! You’ll know what I’m talking about in the pictures. Moving on, we finally reached Memencho right during the sunset, the region is known for a lake which is called Memencho lake. The temperature was freezing around the area, but we still went around the lake and did a little bit of exploring and got a few good shots of the lake too! The lake was huge by the way, It was a great walk in the freezing weather! 

We headed back to Gangtok after that and the next couple of days we spent exploring the town. Did some Paragliding, visited a huge monastery and another viewpoint to get the entire view of the town! These few days, although a bit tiring, it was a great experience again!
